Gender Economics is a new and emerging field of study that essentially links gender, economics and sociology to uncover the drivers for gendered issues.  The Global Gender Economics conference will discuss the short and long term effects of policy on gender, gender bias in economic modelling and gender in policy and decision making processes.

The conference will run over 3 days from 17/18/19 June 2014 with the last day having an optional Master Class as well as a

Social event for international visitors.  Specific streams are currently in development, however they will address the economic impact on issues like violence against women/men, media (consumerism and marketing), Diversity Economics (organizationally), the economic empowerment of women through increasing their influence (Female Investment), and Environment and Sustainability.


  1. To raise awareness of the emerging field of Gender Economics by linking current gender issues with academic and case study (field) research;
  2. To challenge current economic theory, broadening the conversation to encompasses sociological complexities currently at play in society – ie: to deconstruct economic policy, reconstructing it in a manner that allows us to develop rational and objective tracks for further research;
  3. To highlight concrete ways that diversity (Diversity Economics) can be a positive impact on economics, and to commence discussions on proactive solutions for measuring this impact;
  4. To ensure that the discussion is gender neutral and provides open discourses for inclusion of all gender to further proactive and positive conversations about Gender Economics in the wider community.
